The Foundation Charity is a great idea! Thank you for supporting our students!
I’d like to tell you about the Ambitious For All Foundation. Some of you may have seen our banners if you came to the splendid school production at the end of January. You may even have supported us by buying a raffle ticket - thank you. We set up this charity to support Applemore students and I am Chair of the Trustees.
Our aims are to fund opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom and normal curriculum, that will build self-confidence and self-esteem, raise ambition and widen horizons for Applemore students. That is, essentially to open students’ eyes to a world of opportunities and to equip them with the skills and self-belief to make excellent use of those opportunities.
So far we have purchased equipment for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and we have taken a group of fourteen Year 10 students on a visit to No. 10 Downing Street – we were in the Cabinet Office and sat in the chairs where the Prime Minister sits to meet with World Leaders such as the President of the United States - a remarkable experience! We have been invited back and are currently making arrangements for this year’s visit in May!
Later this term we are funding a trip for GCSE art and photography students to visit a Sculpture Park and take part in a workshop there. In March, a group of actors are coming in to school to perform and run workshops in French and Spanish. We plan soon to fund and run a debating competition. We have more ideas and are always welcome suggestions from staff and students.
We hope you will want to support us! There are several ways to be involved. You can help by:
